SESSIONS w/PeterAnthonii:
Witty, Raw and Informative Interviews with Influential Humans.
Singer-songwriter, Actor, Model and all around lovable guy Ryan Love is as beautiful on the inside as he is on the out.Ryan's musical roots run deep. His love for music began in church and then later progressed into musical theater with a profound love for the Motown era. A self proclaimed "pop junkie", Ryan loves to lend his soulful R&B vocals to pop/R&B instrumentals. As if his sultry and soulful voice wasn't enough, he's also a gifted actor! Known for his roles in movies such as The Box with Jacqueline and 21 Bridges starring Chadwick Boseman in 2019.
We sat down with Ryan and his energy immediately draws you in, his captivating smile, and perfectly chiseled cheek bones and body, are only the icing on this chocolate cake. =) It's obvious we've barely scratched the surface of Ryan's arsenal of talents. Don't miss a beat and make sure you hop over to his instagram page, which is 100% lit! A mix of racy photos, impromptu songs, and inspiring content that keeps you coming back for more. And who knows, you may even get a response if your slide into his DM's.
We had a really fun session with Ryan discussing his obsession with Laith Ashley to staying inspired through the pandemic. BUT FIRST we start with the all important question EVERYONE wants to know. Is that his real name? Currently, Ryan resides in NYC but don't worry, we've already started the campaign for his exodus to Miami. Until then...
Is Ryan Love your real name?
Lol, yes it is. If only I had a dollar for every time I was asked that question... ;-)
At what age did you realize you had a special talent?
Interestingly enough, I happen to also be a trained visual artist (painter, sculptor, sketch artist, etc.). My mother tells me that I was drawing in the stroller, so I did know pretty early on that I was artistic. However, it wasn't until my preteen years (11-12) that I began to realize that there was another gift inside of me altogether. It was music. And it turns out that these days I use that gift far more often than I do visual art.
Do you write your own music?
Yes, I do. Although I'm always more than happy to collaborate. :-)
Do you play any instruments?
I tend to not talk too much about this because I'm certainly not as good (or as well practiced) as I'd like to be, but I do play guitar and the keys.
Do you still get nervous before you perform?
I happen to have a huge aversion to applying the word "fear" anywhere in my life, so I usually find a way to convince myself that what I'm feeling is "excitement" or "thrill". However, if I'm going to be completely honest, there are always those feelings of doubt and anxiety knocking at the door right before any performance. Thankfully, for the most part, I've learned how to keep that door closed. :-)
Life was so different pre-pandemic, what was the positive side for quarantine for you?
I must say that I'm sincerely humbled by how blessed I've been throughout the pandemic. It really caused me to stop, slow down, and to refocus a lot things in my life. I'd always dreamed of making my own music and getting it out there to "the masses", but there was always one thing or another that I'd allow to stand in my way. For years I'd sung other people's songs, but never my own. 2020 is when I decided that it was going to happen. So I got to work. In the past 12 months, I've been blessed enough to write, record, and release four original songs with a fifth song on the way. I'd never want to belittle the Beast that was "2020", but I do believe that there's always a way to make lemonade out of life's lemons.
Totally agree! For many people the pandemic was a way for us to reconnect with ourselves. For you, it sounds like it was transformative and inspiring in more ways than one. What do you do for inspiration when you're feeling creatively challenged?
I'm a man of faith, so my number one "go-to" tends to be prayer. Additionally, I read a life-changing article once that explained that "writer's block" is a myth and simply an excuse to not create. That said, when I find it hard to create...I create anyway.
Who is your celebrity crush?
I once saw Laith (Laith Ashely) on the street, and I almost peed my pants. I spent the whole day kicking myself for not saying hi. LoL!
Describe the perfect first date.
An experience where the environment promotes conversation, time doesn't exist, and our cell phones are the furthest thing on our minds.
OMG...your answer alone took me away for a minute! Ok, I'm back. Who or what inspires your music?
My inspiration tends to be mostly spiritual. I find that when I get into that zone, I can do, create, or be absolutely anything.
Dream collaboration...
Beyonce and I starring in a musical together. I know it's cliche, but it's SOOO true. LoL!!
What is the sexiest part of your body?
I'd love to say my personality, but most people like my pecs and my smile. :-)
If you could only wear one pair of shoes forever, What would they be?
If it had to be forever, I'd definitely go with a comfortable pair of sneakers with good ankle and arch support...I have very flat feet. :-/
Do you prefer to sleep with clothes or all nude?
I've gone back and forth with this one throughout my life, but these days I definitely prefer a t-shirt and undies.
What's the best advice you've ever been given?
I was a very shy child, and I always walked with my eyes to the ground. My dad would always get on me, and say "hold your head high", "be aware of what's happening around you". Whether or not he understood the multitude of meanings behind those words, I think they've surely been invaluable to me.
Name one of your guilty pleasures.
White wine with video games. :-P
